This is a recurring theme, not realistic, steam-punk-ish. A head without a body, with the harvester blades for a mouth. This thing runs on brains, it harvests brains, not wheat. So it (this head) is sitting not on a surface, but on a large brain - large, the size of a car, whereas the head is the size of a human head.
